Fonbet payments: deposits, withdrawals in 5 hours and the tax you don't see

The first question friends ask me about Fonbet Greece isn’t about odds — it’s “how fast does the money come out?”. I timed four withdrawals by four methods.

My timings

MethodRequest → Fonbet approvalApproval → CreditTotal
Revolut1 h 40'3 h~5 hours
Skrill2 h6 h8 hours
Visa (National Bank)3 h1 working day~1.5 days
IBAN (Piraeus)2 h2 working days~2.5 days

The first withdrawal was checked manually (1 h 40’). Later ones up to €1,000 were approved in 10–20 minutes. The “approval → credit” time belongs to the bank, not Fonbet.

Deposits

Visa/Mastercard, IRIS, Revolut, Skrill/Neteller, Paysafecard, bank transfer. All instant except transfer (1 working day). Minimum €5 (€10 for wallets, €20 transfer). No fee from Fonbet. Tip: if your bank blocks credit cards for gambling (MCC 7995 — common at Alpha and Eurobank), use IRIS or a debit card.

The “same method” rule

I deposited by card, requested a withdrawal to Revolut — rejected. The HGC requires a closed loop: the withdrawal returns to the deposit method up to the amount deposited. Winnings beyond that can go to an IBAN. If you want fast withdrawals, deposit with Revolut from the start.

The tax

State tax, the same everywhere, withheld automatically:

Net profitRate
up to €1000%
€100–5007.5%
above €50020%

In betting the basis is the slip. In the casino the session (login → logout or 24 hours). Slip example: €50 at 3.00 → €100 profit → 0%. €50 at 4.00 → €150 → 7.5% = €11.25. Practical lesson: big accas are taxed at 20% in full — ten small slips under €100 profit each pay 0%. More in Super League betting.

Source-of-funds check

On cumulative withdrawals above €2,000 Fonbet may ask for a tax statement or bank statement. They asked me at €2,300 — I uploaded my tax statement, approved in 1 working day. An AML obligation, not a “trick”.

Security

3D Secure 2 on cards, tokenized storage, player balances in a separate account (an HGC licence condition). In the app withdrawals are confirmed with Face ID.

My recipe: deposit via Revolut → verify the same day → first withdrawal small (€20) to “open the road” → then 10–20 minute approval every time.

FAQ

Why must the withdrawal go to the same method?
HGC anti-money-laundering rule (closed loop): money returns where it came from, at least up to the deposit amount. Winnings beyond that can go to an IBAN.
