Google has allowed gambling apps on the Greek Play Store only since 2024 and via a separate process; most operators, Fonbet Greece included, still distribute the Android APK from their site. It’s entirely legal — it just takes two extra taps.
The 4 steps
- Download. On your phone: Fonbet.gr → “App” → “Android”.
fonbet.apkdownloads, 58 MB. Only from there. - Permission. Chrome says “For your security, your phone is not allowed to install from this source” → Settings → enable for Chrome. Once.
- Install. Downloads → fonbet.apk → “Install”. Play Protect may ask for confirmation (“Install anyway”) — normal for every Greek operator.
- Log in. Sign in or register with BOO520. Enable fingerprint and notifications.
Afterwards you can disable the unknown-sources permission for Chrome again — the app updates itself.
Safety: what I check
- The download address is fonbet.gr (not fonbet-gr.com, fonbet-apk.net etc.).
- Play Protect reports no “malware” — the “unknown source” warning is a different thing.
- Size ~58 MB; a 5 MB “Fonbet” APK is fake.
- In the app, Settings → About → version matches the one listed on the site.
Tests per device
| Device | Android | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 7 | 15 | No issues |
| Samsung A54 | 14 | Samsung Internet asked permission separately — same process |
| Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 | MIUI 14 | Extra “Allow Chrome” in MIUI; 2 minutes |
| Huawei P40 (no Google) | EMUI 12 | Works normally |
Updates
Not automatic like the Play Store: the app notifies you (“New version available”), downloads the new APK with one tap and asks for install confirmation. Every 2–4 weeks. If you decline, the old version usually works for another 1–2 months.
Requirements
Android 8.0+, 2 GB RAM, ARM64. On Android tablets it opens in mobile layout — for tablets prefer the browser. The full app review has the speed and battery measurements.
